Odunsi (The Engine) Signs Publishing Deal With Warner/Chappell Music

Songwriter, singer and producer Odunsi (The Engine) has signed a worldwide publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group.  He is at the forefront of the Afro-fusion explosion which mixes a wide variety of genres and sounds.

Amber Davis, A&R Director, Warner/Chappell Music UK, says: “Odunsi is a fresh and impressive young talent.  He has shaken up the music scene in Nigeria and is now attracting global attention.  The music he is writing sounds incredibly unique and I’m excited to see how he’ll grow as a songwriter here with us at Chappell.”

Odunsi (The Engine) adds: “I’m really pleased to be joining the roster at Warner/Chappell and can’t wait to work with Amber who has such an amazing reputation for helping songwriters.  I’ve always made music in collaboration with others and am looking forward to working more with songwriters from around the world.”

Odunsi was born Bowofoluwa Odunsi and grew up in Lagos, a city whose vibrant environment and culture has heavily influenced his music.  He began making music while still at school and decided to pursue it as a full-time career back in 2016.

His Afro-fusion sound is a mix of Afrobeat, electronic music, R&B, reggae and soul.   His first EP, Time Of Our Lives, was released in August 2016 and quickly attracted attention from the music industry.  It featured Ghanaian Afro electronic artist Okuntakinte, as well as the Nigerian artists Dami Oniru and Black Magic.

Follow-up singles included ‘Situationship’ ft. Aylø, was a Spotify Top 5 viral track in the US, and ‘Mine’, which featured vocals from London-based R&B vocalist Malika Hamza.  His track ‘In The Morning’ was released by Universal Music Nigeria on a one-single deal and saw him team up with DOZ of the 8 0 Sounds production team.

He is currently in the studio working on some exciting upcoming projects including his debut album, which will be titled Rare.
