Warner/Chappell Music UK songwriters today celebrated their third consecutive showing in the Number One spot on the British album chart. Stormzy’s debut album Gang Signs & Prayer took the top position today, succeeding Rag’n’Bone Man’s debut Human, which in turn followed Elbow’s seventh studio album Little Fictions.
Mike Smith, Managing Director, Warner/Chappell Music UK, said: “It’s always a great feeling to witness a gifted songwriter take it to the next level by producing an inspiring body of work that captures the ears of the entire country. And to have it happen three times in a row with three different songwriters in the Warner/Chappell family is simply extraordinary. This this trio of powerful albums is a beautiful representation of the breadth of our roster, and the diversity of songwriting in Britain today. And for Rag’n’Bone Man and Stormzy to have Number Ones with their debut albums will have an enormous impact on the careers of these groundbreaking artists."
