Warner/Chappell Music, the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, today announced the appointment of Paul Smith to its UK team as Senior International Creative Manager. He will have a broad creative role, signing and overseeing a roster of key songwriters.
Smith replaces Jane Bell, who moved to the publisher’s New York office last month, and will report to Mike Smith, Managing Director of Warner/Chappell UK, once Mike takes up his post in November. Smith joins Warner/Chappell from 365 Artists - a London-based management company for award-winning songwriters, record producers, engineers and artists - where he was Creative Director.
Jon Platt, Chairman & CEO, Warner/Chappell Music, said, “We’re very happy to welcome Paul Smith to the Warner/Chappell family. He has a great track record as an A&R executive, and our UK songwriters will greatly benefit from his expertise.”
Paul Smith added, “It’s an incredibly exciting time to join Warner/Chappell UK, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues in London and around the world to champion the work of our diverse and creative range of talented songwriters.”
Smith joined 365 Artists in 2004 and served as Creative Director for the last six years, overseeing the development of the agency’s new and established songwriters. He worked with artists including Bon Jovi, Ellie Goulding, Dirty Vegas, Keane, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams, among others.
Originally from Lincolnshire, Smith holds a degree in Music Management and Marketing from Bucks New University.
